About Me
Hi, I’m Ramas. Originally I’m from Kaunas, Lithuania, which is a small Northern European country on the coast of the Baltic Sea. It’s a nice cozy place to grow up, and a place where I first saw my first computer (modified Commodore 128). I was the happiest kid on the planet playing LHX Attack Hopper and other games. By the age of 12, my parents gave me IBM 486 (this beast had 66 MHz and a whooping 16 MB of RAM), where I discovered Turbo Pascal and my journey through programming world began.
Since 1999 I started creating my own websites, joined W3C and became a huge enthusiast of web standards and open source projects. Switched to Unix OS, learned assembler, Delphi, C++, PHP, C# (when reverted back to Windows OS) and others programming languages and started developing my own little projects.
In 2004 I won a major programming event in Lithuania, which granted me a spot in prestigious Kaunas University of Technology where I increased my knowledge of theoretical and practical programming, and four years later got my Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics. Two more years later, in June of 2010, I received my Master’s Degree by writing my thesis on “Design and analysis of custom static code analysis rules”.
During all this time, I was developing various freelance projects professionally and as a hobby. RexEdit code editor was my first serious project which at this time has more than 10,000 active users. As a freelancer I mainly focused working on complex problems, developing and optimizing algorithms and creating working solutions. I’ve founded MoodTurn.com, created SourceHQ, RamHook and numerous other user applications, tools and libraries for developers, most of which can be found in my Projects page.
Apart from being a full time software engineer, I enjoy photography, digging through scientific papers and reading technical books about latest technologies.
